Lessons Should Be Fun, Not Homework.

music lessons
done right

Too often, music lessons are still taught the same way they were decades ago. But it doesn’t have to be that way. With the right approach, music can last a lifetime.

WHERE MUSIC COMES ALIVE.

LESSONS THAT STICK

Our students immediately start playing songs they know and love. No boring drills. No glazed-over eyes. Just energy, excitement, and inspiring progress starting at the first lesson. Riff students feel the difference from the very first note.

REAL SONGS. REAL CONFIDENCE.

PLAY WHAT YOU LOVE

At Riff Music School, every private lesson begins with music that sparks joy and excitement for our students. We tap into their favorite songs to teach the fundamentals and skills required to play, then we turn that passion into real progress they can actually feel. Riff is about learning that’s fun, personal, and so engaging they can’t wait to come back.

What ages do you teach?
We welcome students of all ages at Riff Music School. Kids as young as 5 can start lessons on instruments like piano, violin, drums, or ukulele, while most others start around age 6 or 7. If your child is younger but is already showing a spark for music, we’ll partner with you to find the right path forward. There’s no maximum age at Riff Music School. Many of our adult students are chasing a lifelong dream or picking up an instrument for the first time later in life.
Do I need to own an instrument to start?
Not at all! At Riff Music School, we provide pianos, drum sets, amplifiers, and professional studio equipment. We also have demo instruments available for beginners. While we encourage students to own their own instrument so they can practice at home, it’s not required to start lessons.
How long are lessons?

We offer 30-minute, 45-minute, and 60-minute weekly lessons. Together, we’ll choose the right length to match your goals, attention span, and schedule. We also offer band programs at 90-minute or 2-hour timeslots for youth, teens, and adults to experience the full power of playing music. What makes Riff’s individual lessons different?
Traditional music lessons too often feel like homework. At Riff, we flip the script by teaching fundamental skills, theory, technique, learning to read music, playing by ear, and so much more through the songs students already love. This fun-first, song-based approach to music lessons keeps students of all ages engaged from day one. Performance and professional recording opportunities are built into the program for all students to make learning music exciting and lasting.
